Dr. Vilmos Bilicki got accepted to the faculty of Electrical Engineering of the Budapest University of Technology and Economics in 1993. As a student he took part in the work of the department of Telecommunications and Telematics, where he dealt with the modeling mobility of the mobile phone users. He made his student scientific research and thesis from this topic which he acquired in 1999. In 2001 he moved into the department of Software Engineering of the University of Szeged (USZ) where he is employed now as assistant professor. His research fields are the following, distributed storages and compression of the SIP protocol, discovery of the distributed hash table based botnets, and the scalability issues of the distributed hash table based small degree P2P networks. His Ph.D. thesis was written in the topic of Infrastructure Aware Applications and he attained the PhD rank of Information Science and Technology with summa cum laude qualification on the 13th of January in 2011. He has over 57 scientific publications with 25 independent references. He has also an European patent in the field of telemedicine. He was the local leader of ten EU funded FP6 and FP7 projects and more than 20 industrial and R&D projects. He is now the leader of the Machine2Machine research group where about 30 students and researchers are working on M2M related research fields. In 2008 and 2009 he was a member of the program committee of the International Conference on Networking and Services.
He is a founding member of the Intelligent Medical Systems section of the Hungarian Scientific Association for Infocommunications. He is a member of the public body of the Hungarian Academy of Sciences.
He has 4 accepted and 5 submitted patents out the 9 patents 3 are connected to the field of telemedicine.
