Professor Merkely is a world-renowned cardiologist and researcher, currently the rector of Semmelweis University. His main research interests are the non-pharmacological treatment of heart failure, arrhythmias, interventional cardiology, and sports cardiology. He is a recipient of numerous Hungarian and international research grants. He holds a cumulative IF of over 3100, and over 25000 independent citations.
