The National Laboratory for Water Science and Water Security and the National Laboratory for Artificial Intelligence (MILAB), coordinated by HUN-REN SZTAKI, held a joint full-day professional event on September 29, 2025, in the Main Hall of HUN-REN SZTAKI.
At the beginning of the programme, the scientific leaders presented the structure and activities of the two national laboratories, followed by professional talks on topics related to water security and water science. Conversations during coffee breaks and lunch laid the groundwork for several future collaborations, complementing the already ongoing projects.
The National Laboratory for Water Science and Water Security plays a key role in the development of the national economy, as it contributes to the sustainable management of water resources, the mitigation of climate change impacts, and the strengthening of water security. Its research and innovations provide a foundation for improving water use efficiency across agriculture, industry, and the energy sector.
Artificial intelligence can support their work by automating data analysis, improving the accuracy of water quality and discharge forecasts, and optimizing resource management. Recognizing this synergy led to the launch of a formal collaboration between National Laboratory for Water Science and Water Security and MILAB.
