The Artificial Intelligence National Laboratory and HUN-REN SZTAKI held a presentation at the Ecological Research Centre "Garden on the Cube - Is the Terminator not coming? - with human intelligence on artificial intelligence" at the Vácrátót Botanical Garden.
From AUTOMATION TO ROBOTIC TEACHING, the following topics were presented in an interactive research programme:
Ageing research: despite its health and economic importance, the molecular basis of ageing is still poorly understood. The basic unit of life is the cell, in which information is processed through the physical interactions of different molecules that together form interaction networks. These networks may gradually degrade with age, which may play an important role in the development of age-related diseases. In our research, we explore temporal changes in intracellular interaction networks, reconstructing intracellular interaction networks at the level of individual cells (or cell types). Our results include studies of cellular rejuvenation during embryogenesis, the effects of sport and stress on the ageing process, and analyses of gene regulation and the role of proteins in ageing.
Holographic microscopes: the environment, the drinking water industry and various branches of biotechnology, such as the emerging field of microalgae cultivation, have a constant need for microscopic measurements, which currently require skilled biologists to work in monotonous laboratories.
LIDAR detection: providing direct geometric information, LIDAR distance sensors offer significant benefits for intelligent security systems as a complementary solution to traditional optical cameras. In our demonstration, we present a real-time 3D video surveillance application based on a LIDAR sensor, which is now widely available and has been developed at HUN-REN SZTAKI. In our solution, the moving objects of the observed dynamic scene can be accurately detected and tracked during the whole observation period, even in cases where the observed units cross each other's paths or temporarily disappear from the cameras' field of view. By combining LIDAR measurements with camera images, multimodal sensing, the information captured by different sensors can be refined and combined at the same level (Artificial Intelligence National Laboratory).
Power Grid Forecasting: explanatory models are shown to forecast the public data of the national power grid, based on historical data and meteorological information.
Robot arm training: an educational robot arm is used to demonstrate how to train a robots to perform certain tasks.
