József Váncza

Researcher
Institute for Computer Science and Control

József Váncza is the Head of the Research Laboratory on Engineering and Management Intelligence (EMI) at SZTAKI. He received his Ph.D. degree in mechanical engineering (1994). He has been lecturing for three decades at BME, where he is associate professor at the Dept. of Manufacturing Science and Technology. Fellow of the International Academy for Production Engineering (CIRP), where he chaired STC O (2016-2019), and Vice-president of the John von Neumann Computer Society, member of the Hungarian Academy of Engineering. He was awarded the Knight Cross of the Order of Merit of the Hungarian Republic. He has published 200+ scientific papers that received 3000+ independent citations. His main research interests include artificial intelligence and its applications in manufacturing, planning and learning in production and energy management, human-robot collaboration, as well as cooperative and sustainable production.
